I "borrowed" a copy of the Google whack DVD and felt so guilty that I bought all of his books the next day.

This is not just a standup show but an emotionally involving yarn with a narrative arc imposed by the looming deadline of his 32nd birthday.In fact, Gorman’s reluctance to embark on the adventure is almost annoying – he repeatedly talks about how he doesn’t want to do it, and yet we all know that he did or the book wouldn’t exist. Anyway the journey that it sparks is really engagingly told because Gorman puts a lot of himself into it – the joy of moving forward, the despair of dead ends and the overall of obsession of making this mostly pointless thing happen. It's compelling first because it's funny, in so many different ways I could only tell you "read it and see!

Admittedly this plan contained only a tiny fraction of the kudos of winning the Booker Prize but it involved absolutely none of the work.

I enjoy the way Dave Gorman describes his adventures and the people he meets but I did get a bit frustrated with all the procrastinating and I felt sorry for his family and friends when he just disappears for weeks at a time.
